Businesses urged to beef up security following armed robbery
Five armed suspects robbed a business premise in Riverhorse Valley.
BUSINESS owners have been urged to ensure their on-site security guards carry panic buttons linked to an armed response security service. This comes after a gang of five armed robbers held up a security guard at a business premises in Riverhorse Valley on Monday night.
Blue Security media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios said the suspects gained entry onto the Riverhorse Close premises at around 9.55pm.
“The suspects cut the fence at the back of the premises to break into the property before ambushing the security guard on site. They then proceeded to break into the building but it is unclear at this stage what the gang managed to get away with. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.

Mathios said it was vital for business owners to have armed security that could swiftly respond to the premises in case of an emergency.
“A security guard on the premises who has a panic alarm button also provides an additional layer of security as he is able to alert armed response officers to the scene the moment he detects any suspicious activity anywhere near the perimeter of the business premises. Business owners can also guard against the loss of equipment and stock to robberies and burglaries by ensuring that the time intruders or robbers may have on the premises is seriously limited.
“Installing external infrared beams in the yard and an electric fence are some of the best early warning intruder detection systems that can be employed to protect your property,” Mathios concluded.
