Armed men storm Sunningdale home

The suspects confined the family to a bedroom, tied their hands and ransacked their home.

ITEMS taken during a house robbery in Sunningdale have been recovered. The home on Sugarfarm Trail  Road was robbed on Friday morning.

Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen said it’s believed that armed suspects, jumped over the wall to gain entry to the home.

“Reports from the scene indicate that two men armed with a firearm, jumped over the wall to the premises, holding up the owner, his wife and their teenage daughter.
“The suspects confined the family to a bedroom before tying their hands and ransacking their home,” he said.

The men took a flat screen television, a Sony PlayStation, cell phones and various items of jewellry, before making off in the family vehicle, a Land Rover Discovery,” explained van Reenen.

Van Reenen added that working with SAPS, they were able to recover some of the stolen items.

“The Marshall Security Special Operations Team were activated and were able to intercept a tracking signal which lead them to a home in the Kwadabeka area. With the assistance of the SAPS Flying Squad, an extensive search of the house was conducted, resulting in the recovery of an iPad, a flat screen television and various other items confirmed to have been stolen in the robbery. Further search efforts resulted in the recovery of a 9mm Pistol with its serial numbers filed off, believed to have been used in the robbery.”

The Land Rover vehicle was discovered abandoned on a dead end road in the Kwadabeka area.

No arrests have been made yet.
