TAKE NOTE: Zuma supporters march route for Friday

More than 5000 people are expected to take to the streets of Durban.

THE city is warning motorists of road closures on Friday, 6 April. The warning comes on the eve of a march planned by supporters of former President Jacob Zuma who will be appearing in the Durban High Court. He faces 16 charges related to corruption, money laundering, racketeering and fraud. More than 5000 people are expected to take to the streets in support of Zuma who was forced to voluntarily resign less than a month ago.

ZUMA MARCH ROUTE:

Start time: 8am
From: King Dinizulu Park
To: Dr Pixley KaSeme (West) Street turning right into Yusuf Dadoo (Broad) Street, and left into Margaret Mncadi Avenue (Victoria Embankment)
End: Marchers will use the grassed area directly opposite the High Court

eThekwini Metro Police spokesperson,Parboo Sewpersad, has urged motorists to try and avoid the route of the march.

“We appeal to motorists to plan their routes carefully for tomorrow and to practice patience in the expected traffic congestion. Motorists should also find alternative routes where possible and stay away from the High Court precinct, ie the entrance and exit of the Nkosi Albert Luthuli Freeway ( M4 Southern Freeway), Joseph Ndluli (Russell) Street and Margaret Mncadi Avenue,” he said.

Metro Police will be on hand to assist motorists, divert traffic and ensure the safety of all road users.
