30 tons of stolen meat recovered in Mount Edgecombe

Stolen pork worth over a million Rands recovered in Mount Edgecombe warehouse.

STOLEN meat worth R1.8 Million was recovered at Mount Edgecombe on Wednesday afternoon. The imported frozen pork was stolen just outside the Durban Harbour in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Reaction Unit South Africa’s Prem Balram says they were called to assist in finding the stolen trailer which was loaded with meat imported from Brazil.

“A businessman called and said his truck and trailer was stolen at approximately 02:00am. We then received information that the trailer was within an industrial area in Mount Edgecombe. Reaction Officers along with the businessman searched the area and recovered the trailer inside a locked warehouse,” said Balram.

“An employee of the business was called out to the premises and upon arrival explained that the trailer was parked in the warehouse by one of their customers who he could not provide any details for,” he said.

The employee was taken in for questioning by the SAPS.
