Petition started against accused in Siam Lee case

The suspect who works in the petrol-chemical industry is facing several charges including murder‚ kidnapping‚ and reckless and negligent driving.

A LOCAL resident is on a mission to ensure the man accused of Siam Lee’s murder is not granted bail. Sue Foster who is a close family friend of Siam’s mother, Carmen, said she hoped to hand over the petition to Magistrate Mohamed Motala to oppose the bail application of the 29-year-old set to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Foster said her goal was to obtain 1 000 signatures ahead of the Assagay resident’s third appearance at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday. A petition was started on community petition site Avaaz as well as the petition site.

“I’m still in shock over her loss and I’m appealing to the entire nation not to allow an alleged killer bail freedom for the horrendous alleged murder of Siam Lee and the alleged cases of the alleged killer,” she said.

The man, who works in the petrol-chemical industry, is facing several charges including murder‚ kidnapping‚ and reckless and negligent driving.

At his last court appearance, he alleged he had been subjected to harassment and had been tortured and assaulted by Durban North police.

Lee’s charred remains were discovered in a sugarcane field in New Hanover more than a month ago.

Since her death, a Facebook group ‘Justice for Siam’ has been formed with the hope of keeping the memory of the former Crawford North Coast College learner alive.
