LISTEN-Closure of Kenville Road will benefit all

The road will be closed permanently to the public during this time and will only be accessible to construction vehicles.

THE City has urged motorists and residents to be aware of the year-long closure of Kenville Road. The residential road will be closed to the public from 19 February 2018 until 30 April 2019. The work is essential for the re-alignment of Inanda Road. Ward councillor, Bobby Maharajh has urged motorists and residents to be patient while the work is being completed.

“By realigning the road, the old Inanda Road will now end in a dead-end at the NCP Alcohols building and that road will be used by all the businesses in the area. The new road will realign Inanda Road in such a way that is cuts through Kenville Road. I think once the project will be complete will people see the true benefit.

“A lot of vehicles from KwaMashu, Newlands West and East as well as Parlock use Inanda Road every day and if you consider that most families now have more than one vehicle, then you realise the infrastructure can’t support the current traffic,” he said.

eThekwini Municipality’s Head of Communications, Tozi Mthethwa, said the public will still be able to access a portion of Kenville Road.

“The affected portion of the road will be between Sea Cow Lake Road and 37 Kenville Road. The road will be closed permanently to the public during this time and will only be accessible to construction vehicles. This is in order to accommodate the re-alignment of Inanda Road and the construction of a new bridge along Kenville Road,” she said.

“However, the public will still be able to access a portion of Kenville Road through Smithfield and Kew roads. Services, including water, sewer, electricity, stormwater, Neotel and Telkom, may be affected as a result,” she said.
