Sunningdale woman stabbed in house robbery

The homeowner heard a noise in her bathroom and was accosted by the suspect when she went to investigate.

A SUNNINGDALE woman was stabbed in a house robbery in the early hours of Thursday morning. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the incident occurred on Sugarfarm Trail at about 3.45am.

“The homeowner heard noises coming from the bathroom and went to investigate. She found one suspect standing in the bathroom and immediately screamed for help. The victim was stabbed several times in the back by the suspect.

“The domestic worker who was in her room on the property heard the commotion and also started screaming for help. The suspect fled through the bathroom window with a laptop, two Sony PlayStations and three cell phones,” he said.

The woman was taken to hospital by her neighbours and is in a stable condition. A case of armed robbery and attempted murder were opened at the police station.

The incident comes a day after an elderly couple were assaulted by armed suspects in an attempted home invasion in Durban North.
