A MOTORIST was robbed of R16 000 worth of items by three men at the N2/M41 traffic lights split over the weekend. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, one of the suspects, armed with a knife, pretended to be a beggar in the incident which occurred at about 6.50pm.
“As soon as he stopped his vehicle, he noticed a man walk up to his window and pretend to beg. The suspect then pulled out a knife and held it to the motorist’s throat while two of his accomplices jumped in the back seat of the vehicle. They ripped a 16 carat gold chain of him and stole his wallet, a Garmin and a tablet. The men stole an estimated R16 000 worth of items.

“The suspects then fled on foot into the construction site. We believe the suspect who acted as a beggar also blocked the view while his accomplices roughed up the driver. Thankfully the motorist escaped serious injury. We are warning motorists, despite the area being busy, to keep their doors locked at all times,” he said.
The suspects are still at large.
