Ports Festival set to provide 'edu-tainment' for Durbanites of all ages.

POPULAR South African music artists, Nasty C and Amanda Black, will be the headline acts at this year’s Durban Port Festival, hosted by Transnet National Ports Authority.

The event takes place from Saturday, 9 to Sunday, 10 September in partnership with eThekwini Municipality, MSC Cruises, African Marine Solutions (AMSOL) and the South African Navy.

Durban Port Manager, Moshe Motlohi said the festival is part of Transnet National Ports Authority’s (TNPA) efforts to bring communities closer to the ports, community engagement, tourism, leisure, recreation, and career and business opportunities.

“The primary goal of our port festivals is to provide marine ‘edu-tainment’ for our future generations. Over and above this being about the public learning more about our port, it’s also a platform for our local artists to showcase their talent. It was important for us to ensure that our headline acts are local artists who are renowned in the industry,” said Motlohi.

Among headline acts will be 20-year old Durban-born rapper, songwriter and record producer Nasty C who burst into the scene with a single Hell Naw in 2016 and Amanda Black who achieved success with her award-winning hit single Amazulu.

There will also be a craft market and food stalls where goodies can be purchased from local stallholders.

Entry to the Durban Port Festival is R30 for adults and R10 for children under the age of 16, with tickets available through Computicket. Festivities will run from 10am to 8pm pm on Saturday.
