Gospel triumph for Mt Edgecombe singer

Sing won the award for 'Best Worship Album' for his debut album, Unashamed

THERE’S no stopping Mount Edgecombe resident, Adrian Sing’s meteoric rise in the gospel world. Sing was recently nominated for four Independent National Gospel Music Awards (Ingoma), one of which he won last weekend. He won an award for ‘Best Worship Album’ for his debut album, Unashamed.

The former Northwood School learner was nominated in three other categories on the night including Best Praise Album, Best Gospel Collaboration and Best Song Writer.

“It was quite an emotional moment hearing my name being called out. When I got onto the stage to accept the award I just burst into tears. It was a lovely moment and it reminded me of all the hard work both I and all those who have supported me have put through. It was an honour to even be nominated at the awards. I was up against 11 other nominees with serious pedigree.

“I had guys like Ayanda Shange and Sipho Ngwenya, artists I look up to, it was humbling. I couldn’t have done this without my team, local newspapers, radio stations, my wife and kids and especially my parents. My mom and dad have been a huge part of my journey. This was also through God’s grace,” he said.
