Sunningdale family held up at knife-point

The gang used knives from the homeowner's kitchen to hold the family up.

A SUNNINGDALE family was held up by men who used kitchen knives in an armed robbery on Tuesday morning. According to Craig Adendorff of Sun Cell Watch, the incident occurred at about 3.45am on Meadow Lane.

“It’s unclear how many suspects were involved but we suspect there may have been five men. They broke into the house by damaging the front door before taking knives from the kitchen. They then held up the homeowner and his wife and demanded to know where the safe was. The suspects made off with several items.

“The family was unsure how long they had been in the house. Unfortunately, they did not set the internal alarm or have outdoor beams to forewarn them of anyone entering the yard. The Durban North and Umhlanga Crisis team are on scene as they were traumatised by the ordeal,” he said.
