Local resident warns drivers after Sibaya shooting incident

The concerned resident urged other motorists in the area to be wary, especially at night.

A MOUNT Edgecombe resident has warned other motorists to be careful when driving at night in the vicinity of the Sibaya traffic circle and Peace Cottage. This after her car was shot at allegedly by a man attempting to stop the vehicle on Saturday night at about 9.15pm. The resident, who did not want to be named, said she was driving home after eating out at a restaurant in eMdloti.

“I was with a friend when I heard this loud metallic noise. At first I reasoned it could have been a stone from the roadworks on the road but it was pitch dark and I didn’t want to stop. It wasn’t until I got home that I realised there was a bullet hole in my door. It could also have been someone with an air rifle. I’m glad we weren’t injured in the incident but it is quite scary to think what would have happened had I stopped,” she said.

The driver's side of the door was damaged in the alleged shooting.

“I’ve heard of this method being used before to stop drivers to hijack them. I urge motorists to be vigilant in the area.”
