Armed man arrested on Rinaldo Road

The driver was handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS.

A MAN has been arrested in connection with a shooting on the M7 which occurred earlier on Friday. The suspect, who was driving a brown Volkswagen Amarok, was spotted in Glenhills by a Marshall Security officer on a routine patrol. According to Kyle van Reenen, the incident unfolded at about 4pm.

“The description of the vehicle was circulated as wanted by SAPS and was spotted on Rinaldo Road.A call for assistance was made by Marshall and multiple vehicles descended on the area. While the Marshall Security emergency contact centre liaised with 10111, who confirmed the registration and vehicle description as matching that of a vehicle wanted in connection with a shooting incident on the M7 roadway earlier in the day.

“A case of attempted murder had been opened by the Montclair SAPS. The driver, who was found in possession of a licensed 9mm firearm, was arrested and handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS,” he said.
