THE Clarendon Road Neighbourhood Watch is preparing to fight back against the recent crime spike in the area.
“We are under siege,” said chairman Denise Masson.
In the last six weeks they have received reports of 11 incidents of break-ins and fence hopping.
“In June we had nothing to report on during our watch meeting. But since July it has just been overwhelming,” she said.

East View Road has been particularly targeted as well as Highlands and Edgeley Roads.
“This is not the first time we have seen a spike in crime like this. It happened last year as well, and I believe criminals are simply moving from one area to the next – taking advantage where ever they can,” she added. “They will keep striking until we take a stand.”

Masson urged the community to monitor the situation around their homes, to report suspicious behaviour as well as criminal incidents to the police.
The residents have also been invited to attend the watch’s monthly meeting on 30 August to discuss a crime fighting strategy. Tyron Powell, of Marshall Security will be the guest speaker. The meeting will be held at the St Columba Hall at 6.30pm.
