Thieves ransack home, urinate in homeowner’s bedroom

The local resident has been left with just the clothes on his back after thieves ransacked his Greenwood Park home.

A GREENWOOD Park resident has been left with just the clothes on his back after thieves completely cleared out his home. Greg Isaacs, who suffered his second break-in within a week on Friday morning said the thieves had even taken a queen-size bed from one of the rooms. He estimates that more than R300 000 was taken from his Workington Road home.

The thieves also drank five bottles of alcohol, which included Smirnoff vodka, Jack Daniels and wine. The gang also emptied three cupboards of clothing and stole the linen from every bedroom. They then urinated in one of the main bedrooms after ransacking the home.

Isaacs, who was away on a business trip in Cape Town during the first break-in said he had taken additional security measures when the second break-in occurred.

“The clothes I have on is all I have left, they even stole all of my shoes. It’s deeply frustrating considering I had taken additional security measures. The sliding door they had broken through was about to be fitted with a security gate. They’ve taken everything from me, literally. They took my TV, my gas stove, canteens of cutlery and even my curtains. They even took my bed which I cannot believe. I was living with my son after the first break-in concerned for my safety, that’s when this happened,” said the 62-year-old.

“I’m scared they will come back, I’ve had to pay extra for a security guard to be posted at my property for the next few nights. I’m now afraid to live in my own home. I even found pillow slips, suitcases and a box with some of my items left behind. Either they were disturbed or decided to come back for it later I’m not sure. I’m also disgusted they relieved themselves all over my bedroom floor.”

A case of house breaking has been opened at the Greenwood Park SAPS.
