Suspects rob MTN store in La Lucia Mall
The suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a silver Mercedes Benz.
THREE suspects robbed a cell phone store in La Lucia Mall on Wednesday evening. It’s believed the suspects entered the MTN store just after 6pm before holding up the staff. According to a voice note on Sun Cell Watch, one of the suspects was wearing a red jersey. No one was injured and at this stage it is unclear how much was taken during the robbery.
A photo circulating on WhatsApp shows various boxes strewn across the floor of the mall.
The suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a silver Mercedes Benz. A similar make vehicle was used in a robbery of a Glenashley family on Tuesday night. It’s unclear if the cases are linked.
In May this year, robbers had tried to break into the MTN store at La Lucia Mall but were unsuccessful.
La Lucia Mall centre manager, Vanessa Blevins confirmed the incident had taken place.
“A robbery took place at La Lucia Mall at approximately 6pm. No one was injured. Mall security and SAPS are in attendance at the scene.”
