Pedestrian hit on M41 left fighting for his life

The accident happened near Cornubia at around 5pm.

A 30 year-old man has been left fighting for his life after being struck by a car on the M41 this evening. According to Kyle van Reenen from Crisis Medical, paramedics arrived on scene at about 5pm to find the pedestrian lying on the road suffering from life-threatening injuries.

“Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilize him, before he was placed onto a mechanical ventilator to assist him in breathing and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care,” said van Reenen.

The driver of the car did not suffer any physical injuries he said, however he was shaken up by the event.

The South African Police Services were on scene and will investigate the incident further.
