Thieves target Durban North home in break-in

The thieves made off with various electronic items.

THIEVES broke into a home on Goodholme Place in Durban North on Wednesday evening. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the suspects removed the putty from one of the windows to gain access to the home.

“The suspects gained access into the property via a home on Windsor Drive. They climbed over the electric fence, then used a wire to scrape the putty off the window frame. They removed the pane, opened the latch and gained access into the homeowner’s son’s room. They removed a bicycle through the window, but for some reason left it behind. The suspects got away with a 40-inch Samsung TV, an X-BOX and 10 video games,” he said.

The thieves left a bicycle behind in the break-in.

Van Reenen added two men had been arrested earlier this morning for an attempted house break-in on The Promenade in Glenashley.

“The suspects had attempted to flee on foot on the beach. A joint effort between the Durban North SAPS and our members saw an extensive search of the surrounding area conducted. Two suspects were found hiding in the low level dense bush and were arrested on site. The men had attempted to break in to a premises, however had been disturbed by the external beams of the home security system,” he said.
