Attempted murder case opened after Sibaya hit-and-run

The suspect/s are still at large following the incident in the parking lot.

DURBAN North SAPS are investigating a case of attempted murder after a hit-and-run at Sibaya Casino on Sunday at about 2am. The alleged incident occurred in the parking lot of the casino. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the victim, had to undergo surgery after being struck by the vehicle.

“The victim alleges he was with his family and friends at an establishment inside the casino. He accidentally bumped into an unknown man and apologised, however the man punched him in the face. Both parties were then asked to leave the establishment after the fracas. They exited the building and walked towards the car park.

“They noticed a BMW speed past them but were unable to see who was driving. The driver made an abrupt u-turn and drove into the group, hitting the victim and his brother. The victim felt immediate pain in the ankle and after an x-ray at the hospital, had to undergo surgery. His brother’s leg was also injured in the incident. We have been able to trace the registration of the vehicle and there is CCTV footage available to us which we are reviewing, ” he said.
