‘Issues with supplier’ disrupting recycling bag delivery

"The orange bag distribution has been disrupted for a few months, due to the increase in volumes of bags," stated the municipality.

THE issue of the distruption of the supply of the orange recycling bags has finallly been resolved. That’s according to the eThekwnini Municipality who last week said over 20 per cent of Durbanites have been affected by issues which arose with the supplier of the bags.

“The issue is being addressed by Durban Solid Waste (DSW) management,” the City said.  They added that while the supply of the bags has been disrupted, almost 75 percent eThekwini households are still receiving their orange bags.

In a statement, the municipality asked residents who may be affected by the problem with supply, to use clear plastic bags provided by the City in the meantime.

“Place plastic, cardboard and paper in one clear bag and glass and cans in a separate clear bag,” the municipality requested.

They went on to say that locals should contact DSW and let them know if they would like to receive the clear bags. Durbanites can call the DSW Helpline, 031 311 8804, or email kdbarec@durban.gov.za.
