Jewellery store robbed in uMhlanga

The robbers got into the shop by smashing the glass doors and windows.

A JEWELLERY store in The Pearls shopping mall was robbed on Friday evening. “At approximately 9.25pm, we received an alert for a robbery at a business premises in uMhlanga,” said Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security.

Van Reenen went on to say that when the armed response officers arrived at the scene, it was determined that an ‘unknown number of suspects’ had stormed a popular new shopping mall, smashing the glass doors and windows to the jewelry store and stealing various items. It is unknown in which direction the suspects fled the scene.

The Pearls Mall’s, Yolandé Mattison said, “A quick response from Pearls Mall security, SAPS, UIP, Enforce Security and Marshall Security, ensured that the situation was quickly brought under control. We will continue to work closely with the police to ensure these criminals will be caught and fully prosecuted. It is our priority to ensure that our tenants, shoppers and employees are secure.”
