Five car pile-up on M4 leaves one injured

It's unclear what caused the accident.

ONE person was injured after a five car pile-up on the M4 earlier this morning. According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, it’s unclear what caused the collision.

“We were called out to a multiple car pile-up on the M4 just before the Riverside Road off-ramp. Five cars were involved in the accident and one person was treated for minor injuries. Exact details about the cause of the crash and preceding events is still speculative and will form part of the police investigation,” he said.

Botha urged drivers to maintain a safe following distance and put their headlights on in the wet weather.

Earlier this morning, Netcare paramedics also responded to a collision on Riverhorse Road.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a taxi veered off the roadway and crashed into a security building. A security guard that was sitting in the building  sustained serious injuries, four others from the taxi were injured, two seriously while two escaped with minor injuries. The patients were treated at the scene before they were transported to various hospitals,” Botha said.
