Cigarettes found laced with drugs

Allegedly the laced cigarettes were being sold to school children.

CIGARETTES laced with drugs were discovered during a recent raid by Greenwood Park SAPS. “The cigarettes are allegedly being sold to school children for R5 each,” the station’s spokesperson, W/O Leon Audh said. According to Audh, 50 cigarettes were recovered in the operation.

The operations were carried out by the police on Saturday, 18 February at two well known drug dealing establishments in the area. In the first operation, 66 pieces of heroin were recovered and 0,1911 kilograms of dagga from the second. Police also confiscated R6 630 in cash from drug dealing. Two suspects were detained during the raids, which were led by Captain Lenny Govinden.

Audh wanted to remind the public that the legal age for smoking was 18 years-old.
