New app puts Durban on the map

If you’re planning to discover the hidden gems within Durban, this new interactive app is for you.

INSPIRED by their goal to get Durbanites to experience the true beauty of South Africa’s friendliest city, a local company has created a free lifestyle and entertainment mobile app to help locals and visitors navigate their way through Durban.

Supported by the City of Durban and owned by Durban Green Corridor, the highly convenient app, called HeyDurban allows you to search for restaurants, entertainment or adventures on offer that are closest to you.

The newly launched app created by Intshebe Digital allows you to view the trading hours of a place you want to visit, discover the type of cuisine served at particular restaurants, book your tickets for current or upcoming events or book an Uber from or to home right from the venue you visiting.

Founding director of Intshebe Digital, Andre Watermeyer said, “The concept of the app has been around for quite a few years. The City through Durban Green Corridor was looking for a solution to the problem on why things were closing early and why people weren’t going out. They then created a forum and because of the work Jillian Smith was involved, she was asked to join the forum and that’s when she mentioned what we had been working on.

“Our goal is to get people in the city to start having fun again. HeyDurban has a completely dedicated portal for venue owners and event organisers, where those of you who help make this city what it is, can sign up in a matter of minutes, and list all your venues or events on the HeyDurban app, free of charge.  We already have between 600 and 650 venues on the app. Massive credit goes to the City and Durban Green Corridor for getting behind this project.”

Durban Green Corridor’s Sifiso Mngoma  said, “For everyone who comes to the City, if you are looking for convenience, want to know what Durban is about and what Durban has to offer, this app is for you.”

The app is available for iPhone and Android users.
