WATCH: Desperate appeal for infested water to be drained

Residents are concerned about their health and the possibility of waterborne diseases.

HENDON Road residents are still desperately appealing for the relevant authorities to intervene and drain out the infested water which has been stagnant since July, last year. Since the publication of the first article which highlighted this issue in the Northglen News in December, there has been a minimal improvement.

Speaking about how the water build up began, vice chairman of the Kenville/Sea Cow Lake Ratepayers Association, Ashok Saikoolal said, the affected area banked up after the heavy rains and the water has been stagnant since then.

According to Saikool numerous appeals have been made to authorities to address the issue. Despite the City’s intervention, the problem still persists. The stagnant water he said still contains a thousands of insects and a nauseating odor.

Saikoolal said they are now calling for the water to be drained and for the pathway to be reopened, before the issue deteriorates.
