Celebrating youth resilience through art at The Gallery

Titled 'RISE', the exhibition will run from June 6 until July 28 and hosts a number of exciting young artists whose work prompts reflection.

The newest exhibition at The Gallery is a celebration of youth in honour of South African Youth Day on June 16.

Titled ‘RISE’, the exhibition will run from June 6 until July 28 and hosts a number of exciting young artists whose work prompts reflection.

“We wanted to create a space where the voices of young artists could be heard and celebrated,” said Gallery curator, Sarah O’Reilly.

Jane Alexander’s work will be on show next month.

“This exhibition is a tribute to the bravery and determination of the South African youth, both past and present, who continue to inspire us with their resilience and passion for change.”

Artworks from Asiphile Luthuli, Lindani Maduna, Sanela Xaba and Jane Alexander, among many others, will be on show and are well worth the visit.

A wide array of mediums, from paintings and prints to bronzes and ceramics, will ensure there is something on display for everyone.

Come for the wine tasting, nougat sampling and good vibes, and stay for the thought-provoking artworks.

First Thursdays starts at 6pm, while daily opening hours at the Gallery run from 9am-5pm.

Sanela Xaba is an artist to watch for the future.
