Flying carpets and giant genies to hit the stage as Aladdin moves into the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre

Performances will run from December 7 to January 15.

Aladdin is coming to the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre at the University of KwaZulu-Natal courtesy of Kickstart Theatre this December through to January in a magical pantomime by Steven Stead.

Aladdin will feature flying carpets, giant genies, popular songs, jokes galore, gorgeous costumes and much, much more.

Sets will range from a Cave of Wonders full of dancing jewels to a golden Chinese palace – this is a must-see you don’t want to miss out on.

The show stars East London-based musical theatre actor Daniel Anderson as Aladdin.

Blessing Xaba will play his long-suffering mother, Widow Twankey, with the role of wizard Abanazar played by Iain Robinson.

Princess Jasmine will be played by Georgina Mabbett-Kelly, while the roles of Wishee Washee, Genie of the Ring and Dar-Ling will respectively be played by Mthokozisi Zulu, Rory Booth and Belinda Henwood.

Aladdin is directed by Stead and Darren King, with sets and costumes designed by Greg King, choreography by Evashnee Pillay and lighting done by Tina le Roux.

Performances will run from December 7 to January 15, with times for Tuesday-Friday shows from 2.30pm, Saturdays from 11am and 3.30pm, and 2.30pm on Sundays.

Tickets vary from R150-R265, and can be bought at webtickets.co.za.
