Footy warriors face off in double-header

Ballito Royals win under-8 battle, under-12 match drawn.

Ballito’s young football maestros faced off last week in a double fixture between the Footy Juniors and Ballito Royals.

Hosted at the Footy pitch at Townsend Park, the teams competed at both the U8 and U12 level for local bragging rights.

“The U8s were first up and both teams played their little hearts out in front a passionate crowd of family and friends,” said Footy owner, Kyle Crichton.

The U8s were all smiles after showcasing some excellent skills.

Ballito Royals claimed the win after an exciting match.

The U12s proved equally up to the task, showing the level of sporting quality among the local youth. Their match was a thrilling back and forth, with both teams hunting for the crucial winning goal. But it was not to be and they settled for a draw.

Ballito Royals’ Rio Guzovich (10) takes command of the ball in defence.

“Footy will host two teams from Melville and Driefontein townships for a mini-tournament on September 19,” said Crichton.

“If you would like to see some mind-blowing skills on display, please join us to support the little guys and girls.”
