Umhlali Prep coach leads U12 Coastline Sharks to impressive Rhino Week debut

James Muter successfully led the team, the first KZN team to participate, to a third-place finish.

Umhlali Prep coach James Muter recently led the U12 Coastline Sharks Regional rugby team to a Rhino Week victory in Vanderbijlpark.

This was the first time a team from KZN participated in the tournament, which took place from June 19-23, and the team bagged an impressive third place out of eight regional teams.

Jayden Welgemoed shows a clean pair of heels as he prepares to break the line.

“I was very happy with where we landed. The team did exceptionally well,” said Muter.

Umhlali Prep is showing a wealth of rugby talent with 13 pupils making the team.

They were Jayden Welgemoed (captain) Aiden Khaleel (vice-captain), Wandile Zulu, Charlie Sheppy, Corban Stander, Haydan Dalton, Tyler Stewart, Connor Spence, Caide Wolfe, Matthew Slevin, Melisizwe Khuzwayo, Caleb Lombaard and Marko Janse van Vuuren. Tiaan Ras from Curro Salt Rock was also selected alongside four other Durban-based players.
