Gold strike for Links karate brothers

Representing South Africa at the international showdown, Xander and Joshua struck gold in their respective individual kumite divisions.

Filling their trophy cabinet with gold medals is par for the course for Tinley Manor’s Links karate brothers.

And they added more at the weekend’s UFAK Region South Karate Championships in Namibia.

Representing South Africa at the international showdown, Xander and Joshua again struck gold in their respective individual kumite divisions. Joshua secured a second gold in the team kata division, while Xander also contributed to team SA’s success of claiming a bronze medal in the senior men’s team kumite category.

Other participating countries were Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Angola and Namibia.

Team South Africa dominated the continental stage as overall winners of the championships, bringing home a total of 99 medals – 42 gold, 25 silver and 32 bronze.
