Umhlali golfers claim silverware at Northern Region Ladies Champs

The tournament drew some of the best players from across KwaZulu-Natal to compete in a range of categories.

Three Umhlali Country Club golfers conquered provincial competition in the Northern Region Ladies Championships last weekend.

Held at Vryheid Country Club on 20 January, the tournament drew some of the best players from across KwaZulu-Natal to compete in a range of categories.

Kamaya Moodliar was the top player overall, claiming both the gross and nett prizes in the premier open gold division after shooting scores of 75 and 76.

Kamaya’s sister Senayah grabbed the title for lowest gross score in the open silver division, making it a clean sweep in the Moodliar household.

Rounding off a day of silverware for the North Coast, Joan Solms shot the lowest round in the senior division to claim the gross trophy.

“We are super proud of our UCC Ladies who brought home the silverware!” said ladies golf captain, Jenny Church.

“Our Umhlali Ladies adopted the nickname ‘The Coral Assassins’ last year, after a number of wins in their coral Club colours and 2024 has certainly started with a bang. Our Ladies section is stronger than ever and we look forward to another successful year.”
