Ndzimakwe is the founder of the Ushaka Rising Heroes Academy in Shaka’s Head and he has been coaching children in cycling for four years.

Seven of the eight children who represented Ilembe at the KZN BMX race recently held at the Alexandra Park in Pietermaritzburg, will be going to the National BMX race on April 8.

The race was hosted by KZN Cycling Development Trust, and Ilembe competed against the Ethekwini District.

The outstanding performance of the Ilembe team left KZN Cycling Development Trust chief operating officer, Alec Lenferna amazed.

He praised the work done by the Ilembe coach Dumsani Ndzimakwe for his dedication and commitment to ensuring that the children are in top form.

Ndzimakwe is the founder of the Ushaka Rising Heroes Academy in Shaka’s Head and he has been coaching children in cycling for four years.

His hard work and dedication paid off last year July when he was employed by the Trust as a development officer.

“Now I get to teach children outside Shaka’s Head how to cycle and the talent and reaction from the kids is overwhelming,” said Ndzimakwe.

“I was very happy to see them doing so well in the competition and we look forward to the national race in Pinetown,” said Ndzimakwe.

In the provisionals Luyanda Ngidi (16) took the first position in the boy’s race, while Wandile Mbili came second and Owen Nzimakwe took third.

The girls did not disappoint as Phelele Ndabeni(13) bagged first place, Bridget Shalom took second place, Saneliwe Ndlolo came in strong at fourth with Zandile Nogxila in fifth.
