#Letter: Intersection eyesore must be rehabilitated

"What's intolerable is that the councillor has failed to address this issue, which has remained a festering wound for the past four months" - Charles Munsamy.

Tongaat ratepayer Charles Munsamy writes:

A repulsive sight awaits commuters who enter Tongaat at the Gopalall Hurbans/Henrietta Street intersection opposite the magnificent oThongathi Mall.

This marvellous mall is blighted by an unsightly “dump site” which rises to greet visitors. It is a real eyesore.

The annoying presence of unfinished work, litter, loose wires and pipes and a pedestrian “snare” on the pavement shows a lack of integrity and an attitude of carelessness.

What’s intolerable is that the councillor has failed to address this issue, which has remained a festering wound for the past four months.

Where previously stood four enchanting fever trees and two silver oaks, is now laid waste, barren and polluted.

Not even the hundreds of weavers were heard to celebrate spring at this now desolate site of human waste.

I trust this matter will be investigated and the affected area rehabilitated by the culprits who abandoned the site in haste.
