#DJsRecords: Immunise your heart against hopelessness

Our words have the potential of supernatural life-giving power, if we choose to speak positive words of hope and faith.

The scriptures encourage us to make a priority to do two important things: to guard our heart and guard our words.

I assume that this is because there is a vital connection between them! “Guard your heart more than anything else, because the source of your life flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23.

“He who guards his lips guards his life.” Proverbs 13:3 (NIV)

Jesus said: “What has been stored within the heart will come out of the mouth.” Matthew 12:34. The mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

“Set your hearts on things above …. set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:1 -2. We are responsible for our mind-set and the set of the heart.

The fear factor in our world has power to dominate my thinking and my emotions, if I allow this. I have found that if I let the pervasive angst that is prevalent in our world to hijack my emotions and my thinking, I am in danger of losing control of my life and destiny.

We are warned about this in Romans 12:2: “Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God re-mould your minds from within.” What we allow in our heart will eventually affect the way we speak.

Our “words are containers of power.” Joyce Meyer. Your words have creative power. God used words to create the universe. He used His words to bring order out of chaos and light out of darkness.

You and I can use our words to do the same. In our present world, we certainly could do with kind words that create order out of chaos and light out of darkness.

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21.

Our words have the potential of supernatural life-giving power, if we choose to speak positive words of hope and faith.

You and I have the privilege of choosing to do this. “Words have magical power. They can either bring the greatest happiness, or the deepest despair.” Sigmund Freud.

I understand and encourage the wisdom of physical distancing, sanitising and the wearing of surgical masks.

However, I also encourage a daily injection of the freely available spiritual vaccine of God’s Word.

This has power to immunise our hearts, minds and mouths against the deadly infection of the pandemic of fear and hopelessness.
