The Dolphin Coast Residents and Ratepayers Association had a very active and successful year in 2019.
The organisation has been strengthened, individual and estate members gained, committees expanded, and new networks established, in particular with KwaDukuza municipality (KDM).
Docrra has several key issues to be involved with in 2020.
It is key for our members to provide their input and guidance.
A few key activities for the start of the year include:
• Support of Public and Private Sector Partnerships (PPPs) In January 2020 Docrra, in alliance with the Ilembe Chamber of Business, supported the re-appointment of Dolphin Coast Waste Management Services (Pty) Ltd for a further 10 years.
Docrra is a keen supporter of Public and Private Sector Partnerships (PPPs) and requested KDM to ensure that new legislation and future environmental requirements be included in the contract.
• KDM Budget and Spatial Development Framework (SDF) Docrra will increase its vigilance, input and influence on the implementation of the current KDM budget but especially on the preparation of the budget for 2020/2021.
A Spatial Development Framework (SDF) is being developed for the KwaDukuza/ Aerotropolis area.
A group of specialist consultants has been appointed for this mammoth task which will guide growth and development for KwaDukuza over the next 20 to 30 years.
Issues such as roads, zoning, schools and churches, public open spaces, commerce, light and larger industry, water and sewage, electricity, waste and landfill, residential development, safety and security, and much more, will be discussed.
Docrra will ensure this information reaches our members and to create opportunities for our members to provide input.
• Roads and Traffic Study A comprehensive Roads and Traffic study is being completed for the Dolphin Coast and public participation and engagement is required on this vital issue.
Docrra is working on making this opportunity available to its members.
• Docrra Membership – Help us to help you to achieve the above, and have meaningful influence and impact, Docrra needs your support – as members, as sponsors, as volunteers and committee members.
We, Docrra, will continue to promote and protect the interests of all residents and ratepayers within the jurisdiction of the Dolphin Coast.
The more community representation and support we have, the more influence we have.
