#DjReed: God’s love letter to mankind

He spoke of Noah and the Great Flood, and commented on the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah, as well as the story of Jonah and his three days and three nights in the fish's belly.

God is intentional about communicating His truth to us. He has done so through His creation.

“For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” Romans 1:20.

His miraculous book the Bible, made up of 66 different books, was written by approximately 40 different authors over 1500 years.

Many of these writers wrote without the knowledge of what the other authors had written, yet the message they brought to mankind is one of God’s love.

The central theme of this message is conveyed in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus spoke of the uniqueness and enduring nature of the Bible.

“I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.” Matthew 5:18.

He also spoke of His knowledge of the historic records of the Old Testament.

Jesus made reference to His belief in the creation of Adam and Eve.

He spoke of Noah and the Great Flood, and commented on the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah, as well as the story of Jonah and his three days and three nights in the fish’s belly.

Clearly Jesus had no problem believing in these miraculous Bible accounts.

Paul, the Apostle spoke of the value and importance of the Bible.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right.” 2 Timothy 3:16.

The Holy Spirit inspired all of the writers of Scripture, thus as its Author, He is the best teacher of its truths.

“Prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:21.

And “The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26.

“The Bible is the only completely trustworthy source of knowledge about God. Man can’t learn all he needs to know about God from philosophy or even experience. God alone is the source of knowledge about Himself; and He has chosen to reveal Himself in the Bible and in no other book.” John McArthur.
