Salt Rock ward councillor gives feedback on vital matters

This past weekend has seen KDM electricians scrambling around to energise our local networks.

It has certainly been an unforgettable year, and while we have reached a time to reflect and re-calibrate, I am delighted to be allowed the opportunity to engage with the residents of Ward 22 through the medium of your paper.

We are seeing some positive outcomes in the ward, such as the imminent road and storm water rehabilitation project on Main Road Chaka’s Rock which will start in January 2020, and the installation of the Tiffany’s traffic lights. Resurfacing of Valley, Lagoon and Mdoni Roads have also now been completed.

These road rehab works were part of the current financial years capital projects for the ward.

I am also pleased to report that KDM Community services business unit have allocated eighteen additional staff and a beach superintendent for the southern region in order to ensure our beach ablutions and facilities are maintained during the season.

The emergency reporting line at KDM however still remains out of commission, it is therefore imperative for residents to take note of the alternate reporting number in case of emergency- 060 714 3764.

Loadshedding continues to play havoc to our economy after Eskom announced that the system still remains vulnerable and unreliable for the coming week.

This past weekend has seen KDM electricians scrambling around to energise our local networks.

The levels of frustration are high among residents, understandably so. The appeal is being made to KDM once again to ensure that residents are energized timeously and ensure an open communication channel.

It has certainly been a fantastic 2019 and while I express my sincere gratitude to the residents and ratepayers of the ward for the many positive engagements we have had this year, I wish to give a special mention to our very own local heroes, Springbok legend, Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira and Integrity Idol, Sergeant Clinton Odayar for the role they have played in unifying our community.

I wish you all a peaceful and safe festive season.
