DJ’s Records: Taking responsibility pays dividends

The Almighty is with us, empowering us to make all the difference in the world.

Taking responsibility in many cases works counter-intuitively.

Most of us fear responsibility because we know it is going to cost us time, money, effort and possibly some sacrifice.

Yet, in reality, choosing to avoid responsibility, in all likelihood, will cost us much more than deciding to brace ourselves, and do the right thing.

“Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility.” Sigmund Freud.

Taking responsibility pays dividends, even though it may not be the path of least resistance, or the comfortable choice. Here are some of the results that accrue to us when we choose to take responsibility:

· We strengthen our moral fibre.

· We experience the advantage of growing up before we grow old.

· We grow in courage and wisdom.

· We become leaders worth following.

· We inspire ourselves and others to accomplish big dreams.

· We empower ourselves to realise our potential.

· We increase our self respect, and often the respect others have for us;

“The price of greatness is taking responsibility.” Winston Churchill.

· We hand ourselves the keys to a better destiny.

· We escape the prison of resentment.

· We cure ourselves of the paralysis of blaming others for our situation and hardships.

· It inspires initiative.

· It is an effective antidote to a victim mentality.

· It is one way to make the world a better place!

As Christians, we are positioned to take responsibility for the rest of our lives, because Jesus chose to take responsibility for all our sin and wrongdoing, so we can live free from guilt and shame.

On our own, there is no way we are capable of removing all the damage we have done to ourselves and others by any amount of good we can do. Thank God, He in His mercy took on this insurmountable obstacle.

Now, through faith in His accomplishment, He hands us a clean slate, so we can live free of all guilt and shame.

Then wonderfully He provides us with His personal help.

The Almighty is with us, empowering us to make all the difference in the world.

As followers of Jesus we are now the couriers of “The Good News”.

This involves taking responsibility to tell the story of Jesus, and more importantly to demonstrate its power and reality as we face the challenges of modern life!
