Protect our animals from fireworks

We humans love the festive season, the New Year, Diwali. We love to see the sky light up and get thrills from big bangs, blasts and loud fire crackers.

But as we are celebrating a dog’s heart is pounding, racing, they moan in fear and in pain. The ears of a dog are really sensitive to sound and such amplitude of sound is deafening and distresses them.

Worse, people get drunk and tie fire crackers onto the tails of dogs and kill the animal or they throw fireworks onto the dogs. This just proves how uncivilized people are to get cheap thrills from watching an innocent animal suffer.

During this time of year all domestic pets need to be kept safe and sound away from the loud gorilla bombs. Seriously those ‘bombs’ should be used at a military base. They are far too dangerous even for children to handle. Imagine what those high intensity sounds do to our pets.

People who do stupid things to entertain themselves especially to take joy in watching a harmless animal suffer are really sick and immature, and yes it’s the adults who participate in these activities as well. The animals run away and get lost, they often die and this is all because of these loud fireworks, where is the significance in bursting these deafening deadly and dangerous crackers!

I despise animal cruelty and it saddens me to see the lengths people will go to to inflict harm and pain onto something so harmless.

Come on people of KwaDukuza, stand up for the animals, don’t let them become strays and end up dying a painful death. Save our animals.
