Crawford North Coast pupils score big with matric results

Top pupil was Muhammad Manjra who scored 7 distinctions.

Of the 74 who wrote exams, the top 13 Crawford International College North Coast Independent Examinations Board (IEB) matrics achieved a combined 71 distinctions!

Top pupil was Muhammad Manjra who scored 7 distinctions.

Manjra also received an IEB commendable achievement recognition for scoring within the top 5% of pupils nationally in 5 subjects, and obtaining 80% or more in life orientation.

He further made the top 1% nationally for accounting, engineering graphics and design.

He was followed by Yash Panday, Alyana Rajahussen (7 distinctions) and Marina Viljoen (7 distinctions).

Panday was also awarded an IEB outstanding achievement recognition for placing within the top 5% of pupils nationally in 6 or more subjects, while scoring higher than 80% for life orientation.

Yash Panday scored 8 distinctions.

Rajahussen (7 distinctions) finished among the top 1% nationally for business studies.

Alyana Rajahussen scored 7 distinctions.

Scoring 6 distinctions each were Aryan Haricharan and Kovendan Raman. Taking home 5 distinctions were Gabriella Broom and Nicola Waite, followed by Pascal Beauregard, Kara Drysdale, Yavna Gunasse, Claudia Limbert and Shannon Trollip (4 distinctions).

Marina Viljoen earned 7 distinctions.

The school’s Kusasa Hlongwane was also recognised for scoring within the top 1% nationally in isiZulu.

Principal Vernon David commended the matrics for their sterling efforts.

“The Chinese use two brush strokes to write the word, ‘crisis’. One brush stroke stands for danger; the other for opportunity. In a crisis, be aware of the danger – but recognise the opportunity.

“With the ongoing global pandemic, 2021 proved to be yet another trying and demanding year. But here at Crawford North Coast, we recognise that exceptional times call for exceptional people. A task was set – to succeed amidst struggle.

“Our matrics heeded the call, rallied to the cause, met the challenge, and were not found wanting. To our teachers and parents, thank you for your dedicated support and to our matric class of 2021, our Crawford champions, we salute you and your achievements.”
