Head-on collision claims another life on N2 near Mandeni

It brings the death toll on North Coast roads to at least 15 in the last two weeks.

A man in his 40s was killed in a head-on collision on the N2 near Mandeni this morning.

The bakkie he was driving collided with a truck at around 3.30am and careered off the highway.

The truck driver was lucky to escape with minor injuries.

Traffic has been affected throughout the morning, but the road remains open.

It is the second head-on collision between a car and truck in the area in less than a week, following the horror accident which claimed eight lives on the N2 last Friday.

That accident happened a week after six people died in a collision on the R102 near Darnall, prompting concerns about road safety.
