Groutville country foot-stompers need help to get to SA Open champs

Local dance group has what it takes.

Six Groutville dance instructors need support to participate in the World Country Dance Federation SA Open in Amanzimtoti on October 18.

Nhlanhla Dladla, Ziyanda Xulu, Senzo Xulu, Sfiso Dlamini, Simphiwe Mthembu and Sphiwe Thembe have shown remarkable progress on the country dance scene, but want to take another step up.

Thanks to generous contributions from The North Coast Courier, Hollywood Bets, Rotary and other donors, they competed in an inter-provincial competition in Welkom in May, where they excelled against some of the best in the country.

Displaying their skills at national level is the next goal, but to turn this dream into reality they need to raise funds for travel, accommodation, food, entry fees and dancing boots.

The young dancers are part of a Groutville programme spearheaded by the Inala organisation that uses dance to uplift members of the disadvantaged community.

Anyone willing to support the group can call Terri at 079 993 6694.
