Exploring their recollections of the past and how it has affected their ‘mind’s eye’, artists often find fertile creative ground.
This is the theme of this month’s exhibition at The Gallery at The Studios in Lifestyle Centre – ‘In the mind’s eye’.
Launching at 6pm on Thursday, October 3, the exhibition will showcase a wide range of artists whose work has interrogated memory and the mental image.
There is also a variety of mediums and styles on show, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and mixed media.
“We hope this exhibition will inspire viewers to consider how their own perceptions are shaped by their mind’s eye,” said Gallery curator, Sarah O’Reilly.
“Some of the artists who feature in this exhibition are Jane Digby, Judy Wentzel, Jabulani Cele, Hussein Salim, Catherine Stempowski, Petra Gevers, Gift Dlamini, Bhekitshe Ntshali, Megan Smith, Siyabonga Ngubane and more.”
The exhibition opens in conjunction with First Thursdays at Lifestyle and there are many food and drink options available.
