Sibaya Trust builds religious centre in Nonoti

The Mohanji Centre of Benevolence was dedicated in honour of the late Prince Msangosuthu Buthelezi.

A multi-purpose centre was gifted to the Mohanji Foundation of South Africa by the Sibaya Community Trust in Nonoti last week.

The religious group has 12 hectares of land in Nonoti, on which a temple has been built and a feeding scheme is operated to assist the surrounding community.

The Mohanji Centre of Benevolence was also dedicated in honour of the late Prince Msangosuthu Buthelezi, whose commitment to social upliftment continues to inspire the region.

Chairman of the Sibaya Community Trust, Vivian Reddy, thanked the Mohanji Foundation for selecting Nonoti as the location for the project, highlighting the Shirdi Sai Ashram on site as an embodiment of the principle of “service to humanity”.

Undertaking the plaque unveiling were foundation trustee Sorisha Naidoo, social development MEC Mbali Cynthia Shinga; Sibaya Community Trust chairman Vivian Reddy Mohanji, and spiritual leader Mohanji.

MEC for the Department of Social Development, Cynthia Shinga, said projects like this illustrated what could be achieved when public-private partnerships worked together for the betterment of society.

Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment, Narend Singh, presented awards of recognition for humanitarian upliftment to Reddy and spiritual leader Mohanji.

“The Mohanji Centre of Benevolence will serve as a beacon of hope for the people of Nonoti, a space where they will find peace, warmth, food, and spiritual blessings,” Mohanji said.
