Tongaat’s Pure Hearts Safe House needs public support to deal with rising cases

Have a heart and help protect abused children.

The recent rise in child abuse cases in Tongaat has left The Pure Hearts Safe House in urgent need of donations to cope with increased demand.

The facility, which provides protection for abandoned, neglected and sexually or physically abused children, is run by Tongaat Child Welfare.

Social workers remove children from harmful environments and place them in the care of the safe house where they receive daily care.

The safe house provides a pleasant and secure home for abused children.

“When children are removed, they enter the safe house empty handed. The support of the Legacy Project has directly contributed toward the costs incurred when caring for the children, like buying daily living essentials,” said social worker Jo Moodley.

With the number of rescued children increasing, the organisation is asking for public support. People can ideally donate R1 200 or make monthly contributions of R100 for 12 months.
