Youngest iLembe author launches debut novel at just 11 years old

The budding young writer hopes her writing will one day make her a household name.

Siyamthanda Zungu may well qualify as the youngest published writer in the iLembe district.

The 11-year-old Ashram Primary School pupil has put her creative thoughts to paper and launched her debut short story novel, A Ride With An Angel, at the Luthuli Museum on August 10.

Zungu joined the A Chorus of Rustics Writers’ Club last year, where she has been honing her skills with the help of local author Bheki Ngwenya.

Ngwenya holds workshops with pupils of five local schools every Friday to nurture the budding authors.

Zungu attributes her success to her sister who inspired her to perservere with the book.

The budding young writer hopes her writing will one day make her a household name in the literary world.
