Hundreds gather in Tongaat for Krishna’s birth celebration

The celebration was hosted at the Vishwaroop Temple on Saturday evening.

Almost 600 Tongaat residents joined the celebration of Hindu deity Krishna’s birth last weekend.

Officially termed the Krishna Janmashtami, the celebration is an important date on the Hindu calendar and is observed by millions worldwide.

Tulsi Maharaj, Bhavish Vallabhjee, Varaha Bansi and Larry Ramghulam enjoying the celebrations.

The Tongaat celebration was hosted by the Tongaat Namahatta at the Vishwaroop Temple on Saturday evening.

“Each temple holds its own celebrations for the Janmashtami, with a feast, songs, dancing, plays and a guest speaker,” said Tongaat Namahatta secretary, Yamuna Devi Dasi.
