Tongaat Charity Fair pushed to 2024 amid tornado relief efforts

The Tongaat Child and Welfare Society relies heavily on the fair for fundraising.

The devastation caused by the recent tornado in Tongaat has led to the postponement of the 2024 Charity Fair as the focus is now on rebuilding un-insured and informal homes.

Hosted by the Tongaat Child and Welfare Society, the Charity Fair was scheduled for August 28 to September 1 but will now be held from February 26 next year while the society undertakes immediate relief programmes.

“The annual Charity Fair is the financial lifeblood of our organisation and the impact of postponing it will be devastating and curtail our ability to sustain much-needed services to the community,” said the society’s manager, Jo Moodley.

Because of this, the organisation appeals to the public for financial assistance.
