Durban ghost tours: Explore haunted venues and famous graveyards

This will possibly be the tours' last visit to the city after 24 years of operation.

If you fancy meeting some of Durban’s ghost legends such as Highway Sheila, The Grey Nun and The White Ladythen book a seat for a spooky thrill ride on Friday and Saturday.

The Durban ghost tours start at the Edward Hotel on the beachfront at 7pm.

Guests will visit famous historical graveyards and haunted venues, including Durban’s Addington Hospital which is rumoured to house the spirits of The Grey Nun and The White Lady in the children’s wing.

Also on the schedule is the story of Rosey Dry’s brothel, the haunted Playhouse with its own Phantom of the Opera and Durban Boys High School featuring possibly the city’s best known ghost, Highway Sheila.

Next up will be visits to the Spook House of Musgrave Road and the notorious Poltergeist House.

Guests will also have the opportunity of learning about the science of the paranormal, the different types of ghosts and experience live scientific demonstrations and entertainment, including trying to use the tour’s dowsing rods to prove the existence of an invisible force field.

The fright night excursion will conclude at St Thomas cemetery where the city’s most important personages such as former mayors are buried.
