Ballito welcomes back Veena Pillay for launch of her debut novel

'A Bend in the Road' is a tale of friendship and secrets in 1970s South Africa.

Former Ballito resident Veena Pillay, now living in Umhlanga, launched her debut novel, A Bend in the Road, at Ekhaya Guest House in Ballito last weekend.

The book is a coming-of-age story, portraying life in a small Indian town in 1970s South Africa.

Author Veena Pillay signs a copy of her new book for Presanya Naidoo.

The lives of four young girls are forever altered when one of them goes missing. The remaining three girls struggle to deal with the aftermath of the disappearance while wrestling with issues of guilt, first love, identity, hypocrisy, family secrets and the prejudices of tradition.

The book is now available at Exclusive Books and Bargain Books countrywide, as well as from Krest publishers and Amazon Kindle.
